Become A Donor
Become A Donor: Young or old, rich or poor, one day any of us can become an organ or tissue donor to save or enhance someone's life.
Your gift may be a second chance for one in thousands of Canadians to move. Then they can stay healthy and enjoy all the simple pleasures of life.
Your gift can also be a great help in relieving your family in the event of catastrophic damage. It can make them realize that the death of their loved one is not in vain. It's a great way to preserve his memory and give meaning to his untimely death.

Donated organs come from a variety of sources:
People who donate organs are usually part of the kidneys or liver while living a healthy life (living organ donation).
People who have suffered traumatic, often sudden "brain death" but whose vital organs are maintained by the artificial ventilator (cadherin organ donation).
People who have died of causes other than basic "brain death" (tissue donation).
Direct donations are becoming increasingly popular as a way to bridge the gap between the number of people on the transplant waiting list and the number of organs available. However, the most common means of organ transplantation is kidney donation. Organs from non-respiratory cadherin sources are not currently used.
